Dr Rachael Chapman, Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences, Northumbria University, will offer an introduction to a selection of topical questions. The following offers a flavour of these:
Ø Is fairness a contestable concept?
Ø When thinking about ‘fairness’ how do we account for social inequalities?
Ø Is fairness possible in service provision?
Ø Who decides ‘what is fair or not’?
The seminar will be chaired by Dr Robert Song, Head of Theology and Religion, at Durham University.
The intention is to have roundtable conversations on this challenging and timely topic.
The seminar is open to all who are involved in the work and interest of the county council: officers and staff; elected Members; partners and people who work with the Council in procured services and joint projects.
“This seminar will address some of the core issues which face members and officers and all involved in public life” Simon Henig, Leader Durham County Council
