North East Christian Churches Together is the new instrument (June 2001) bringing together Church Leaders and nominated and elected representatives from the whole of the region from the River Tweed to the York North borders, co-terminous with the Regional Development Agency. They meet twice a year in Forum to further ecumenical working locally so that resources are utilised to their full potential, the work of the Kingdom is more effective and communities experience a working model of co-operation in diversity.

Day to day work is carried out by the Executive through the Church Leaders Meeting and the Local Ecumenical Group in conjunction with the Theological Consultancy and the Churches Regional Commission.
